WestSac Wiki was created with the hope that it would someday serve as a comprehensive guide to the rapidly growing city of West Sacramento, California.
To the west is the city of Davis, represented by the Davis Wiki, while to the east is the major city that hosts the Sacramento Wiki. West Sacramento is located in Yolo County, the county seat of which is also home to the Woodland Wiki.

2007-05-28 17:02:13 I went to create an entry for Morrow Surveying but couldn't. Seems that the wiki still has clamped down security even though the front page has requests for people to edit. —JasonAller
2007-05-28 17:36:43 The entire wiki is locked up. You can't even view pages besides the front page! —WilliamLewis
I asked Masumi about this a few days ago and he said they wanted to keep things locked down until they seeded more content. That way they'll have a clear point to "launch" at and notify media, start publicizing, etc.
2007-06-01 04:22:16 Wikis are supposed to be community efforts, not closed projects. —JasonAller
Perhaps Masumi could create a user group for editors and invite people via this page, at least temporarily? By the way, Masumi, you should set the hub as a watched wiki so you see comments like this :)
2007-06-01 06:03:07 I would also like to note that the creator's userpage cannot be seen.. —DavidPoole
2007-06-01 17:17:54 Hey everyone! Sorry about all the frustration but since I'm collaborating with the City of West Sacramento, I needed (and still do) to lock everything down until the wiki went through the bureaucratic hoops. Hopefully, it'll be completely open again within the next two weeks but in the meantime, I'll add familiar users to a psuedo-admin group. =)
For clarification, it's definitley not meant to be a closed project but certain things have to be done to have the support of the city which will be beneficial in the long run. —MasumiWatanabe
It'd be great if you could add me. There is some stuff on davis that I'd like to transwiki over to westsac. —WilliamLewis
Done! —MasumiWatanabe
Thanks for adding me too, I had some random photos to add, and Transwiki may be pretty useful too. ~Dave
2007-06-18 07:20:31 In my opinion, West Sac should contribute to SacWiki.org. I live in West Sacramento, and created SacWiki.org as a resource for the entire region. We can accomplish more by working together. —CharlesMcLaughlin
If there was an actual wiki for the whole Sacramento region, I would definitely agree. However, Sacramento and West Sacramento are technically separate municipalities and the lack of recognition as its own city is one of the problems that West Sacramento suffers from-a problem that I do not wish to contribute to. I'll happily work on SacWiki.org when I have relevant materials to contribute. =) —MasumiWatanabe
There *is* an actual wiki for the whole Sacramento region - it's SacWiki.org. West Sacramento seems to have a bit of an identity crisis. Anyway, I had westsacwiki.org registered, but it expired and is pending deletion from the registry. I'd encourage you to jump on it once it's officially available, even though I'd rather see you join the SacWiki.org effort.
I definitely would like to see materials posted in each local community wiki to be compiled in an intuitive, graceful manner on SacWiki.org for those who just want to do or find something in the general area. I have had moments where I thought to myself, "Where should I go for lunch today?" and I ended up in Sacramento without a plan so I'll make sure to contribute when I have the opportunity. And thank you for letting me know the domain name expired, I'll make sure to snag it once it's released. —MasumiWatanabe
2007-07-12 01:42:51 Just a heads-up: looks like the settings for the westsacwiki.net domain name aren't pointed here anymore. Are you migrating over to the other domain name? Just leave a note if so. —PhilipNeustrom
I just LOOKED at the account and the CNAME alias and HTTP redirect decided to work again. —MasumiWatanabe
As of 1:45PM there's no CNAME entry for the domain. You say it was working earlier today when you looked at it? What domain host do you use? —PhilipNeustrom
