Only I, Steven Ostrowski, have lived in Redding for 16 years and only I can properly edit it so as to bring out Redding glory and pride. (source)
2007-09-21 15:26:55 It appears that Steve's response to a user racking up more Steve Points than Steve was for him to delete that user's page and ban them. This doesn't strike me as the sort of behavior that Wiki Spot wants from those who administer Wiki Spot wikis. Combined with Steve's other policies NPOV and Redding Wiki Regulations this action prompts the question, "Should Steve be an administrator?". It isn't like there haven't been positive suggestions given to him, or even credit when due. Steve has in response to his banning from Davis Wiki attempted to use Wiki Spot resources in a manner that it inconsistent with with the Community Guidelines of Wiki Spot. —JasonAller

2007-09-21 19:10:46 I'd suggest anyone seriously interested in working on a wiki for Redding, CA to create a new wiki that is not managed by a jerk. —PhilipNeustrom

The only problem with that approach is that in the long term people have to remember to link to [wiki:Redding2] rather than [wiki:Redding]. Rather than making a parallel instance the base instance should be fixed. Why abandon good namespace to destructive purposes? —JasonAller
2007-10-13 22:35:39 I hope in the near future to register a domain name for the Redding Wiki like that of the Davis Wiki. I hope to get this done by the end of this year and then acheive domain names for the second Wiki I will create. Progress despite all of the attacks has been made. We will surpass the West Sacramento Wiki in a week and then the Sacramento Wiki within the end of the year. Letters and messages have been sent to Redding forums and Redding clubs. A community will emerge soon, but in the meantime it might look like slow progress. If it is necessary I will write pages on each ban and the reasons for them, but I have not been respectfully contacted on this matter so I don't think a problem exists. —SteveOstrowski

I think you should publicly list all of the accounts that have been banned, and the reasons why. You haven't been respectfully contacted because respect isn't given - it's earned. A community can grow, but your system of management will drive it away. But thank you for banning me pre-emptively (and with no violation nor reason), we were able to spot a bug in the wikispot system and eliminate it. -KJM

2007-10-15 20:58:48 I'd love to see a page writeup of why I was banned. I believe several people, very respectfully, asked you to please update your banlist and list reasons why for administrative purpose (JasonAller, Graham.Freeman,etc). Most hilariously, they've both been banned since then. I actually wasn't preemptively banned. Someone had added me to the list as being probably banned. I decided to check to see if I was banned by leaving a thank you comment on your page. Since I wasn't banned, my 2nd edit (and only) to the wiki was removing myself from banlist. The real irony is that I was banned the following day. I wasn't sure why, then I checked your blog: "[two people asked to be unbanned] Since I have un-banned them I have banned two more to take their place so I am not bowing to any type of pressure. Looks like I was banned to fill a hole and keep your iron-fisted image strong. Kudos, Redding Wiki. —EdWins
2007-10-14 00:36:48 I'm banned, too. I think I'll take a walk to the small craft harbor and watch the sunset. —Graham.Freeman
2007-10-20 20:18:09 I pre-emptively asked to be banned, and my request was fulfilled. Steve, you really should look into purging the edit log— he who controls the edit log controls the past. —CraigBrozinsky
