2007-09-16 01:00:54   Hey Graham, I'm not really sure what's going on, but apparently Steve Ostrowski banned WilliamLewis and JamesSchwab from the Redding Wiki - preemptively! If you [WWW]look at the page and his comments, I really don't know what to say. I know he's off of the DavisWiki, but that kind of stuff and his latest few [WWW]blog posts make me nervous about any type of wiki he's in. I feel like the drama and nonsense going on in Davis is now going to tarnish the wikispot and just be spread elsewhere. —EdWins

2007-09-16 04:52:27   Howdy, Edwin & William,

I agree that it's pretty screwed up. However, I think the results will speak for themselves. I hope that some good will come out of there being a Redding Wiki, but before that can happen Steve is going to have to realize that *nobody* owns content on Wiki Spot-hosted wikis - that it's all community-driven.

In the meantime, I'm going to do my best to focus on constructive tasks (e.g. the Santa Cruz Wiki) and I hope others will too. —Graham.Freeman

2007-09-17 01:24:58   Even if the software is modified to publicly display bans, Steve will never allow the real reasons for the bans to stay up. In the interests of openness, this information should stay on the wiki. A revert war won't happen because I'll be banned before such a thing ensues. Lovely thought there. —someone pretending to be Carla Lewis

2007-09-18 04:43:05   Apparently I was banned from the Redding wiki after all. I believe I made two edits: a comment to Steve, and then removed myself from the 'probably banned' list. Yay. Now I have to log out to read and giggle at his antics. —67.180.11.181

I suggest that people just not edit the Redding Wiki. If you will read Steve's blog post on this wiki, he created it to fill a gap that the Davis Wiki filled. Already, his enthusiasm for his new empire (he even decided to add "imperial" to the page about how the wiki is run!) is falling off. In a few months he'll either give up on wikispot altogether or try to get back into the Davis Wiki somehow. I think going over there to start squabbles just adds fuel. I mean, Graham was trying to describe a double homicide as "horrible" and Steve fought that description. What gives? Its the feeling of power he feels doing it. It's like the [davis]Crazy Preachers that come on campus, they are defused when they are ignored. - KJM
