One of the guiding principles of Wiki Spot is that individual communities know best how to run their wikis. This entails empowering communities with control over their wiki. This principle does make certain things more difficult, though, but we think it's important.

What if someone has already started a wiki for my community?

Work together!

What if they are inactive?

Try and contact the people who started the wiki. Look through the Wiki Directory and their wiki for contact information. In all likelihood they will pass the torch on to you to help maintain and grow the wiki.

What if they can't be contacted?

Eventually the process of exporting a wiki's contents will be fully automated and wikis will be able to "suck in" these contents easily. This will empower communities with the ability to start a separate wiki if their interests and the administrators' diverge. For now, if you hit a wall, contact Philip and we can work things out.

This is a Wiki Spot wiki. Wiki Spot is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that helps communities collaborate via wikis.
