This is a presentation designed for a Chamber of Commerce to introduce them to the wiki.
Work in Progress, please add your thoughts
An online presentation for Business Groups and Chambers of Commerce.
The most difficult of all of the presentations. Respect that you are informing a group of people that the rules for how they have managed their public relations and outside the store customer service have changed. Your job is to help them understand in the midst of this that it isn't just a scary change, but that it is an opportunity. Tempers may already be up by the time you give this presentation to a Chamber of Commerce. Respect that, nobody likes to read negative reviews of their business.
Your job is to help them get past feeling dumped on by the wiki and show them that if their time is money the wiki is a good investment of their precious time as a business owner. Again, respect that their time is valuable to them and translates directly into money. If they are tech savy they can get an RSS feed for the page for their business and then they don't have to remember to check it on a regular basis. The trick is to know how to offer a solution like that. You need to read the audience. It may take a willingness to make yourself available as a wiki ambassador to assist them with things.
Slide 1: Title, needs graphic from general presentation
Slide 2: Introductions
Slide 3: Brief History of the Internet
Slide 4: What is the Wiki?
Slide 4: What can I get out of it?
Slide 5: What does it cost?
Slide 6: I don't like negative comments
Slide 7: Success Stories
Short and sweet, plenty of content. Be prepared with both the sideshow and a a window with their local wiki if possible. Don't get dragged into to much depth about any one business during the presentation if possible, but be available to discuss their situation after the presentation.
