Vikings are a fierce race of people who attacked and plundered most of North-Western Europe. They were very strategic and cunning.

Scandinavia was one of the many places that Vikings probably lived. Here they were either farmers or herdsmen, and lived a harsh life of fighting plagues and diseases. In 1880, archaeologists found the remains of a village that the Vikings left. Here, the first designs of a "Long Ship" were found. Scandinavia was where the Nordic (Norse) culture evolved from.

Attacks
The very first idea of Vikings as ruthless barbarians came when they attacked Lindisfarne (which is a British monastery). They probably raided the monastery for silver and gold. Afterwards, the Vikings became more discipline. Another attack came to Paris. The Viking leader was Ragnar, and his opponent was French Charles the Bald. Charles was beaten in this battle. Then, the Vikings used many waterways to infest Europe. They used major rivers like Eoire and the Seine to their advantage.

Years later, the Vikings eventually made their fairly-permanent home Greenland. Greenland was homed to Vikings like Eric the Red and his son Leif Ericsson. Leif Ericsson found New Foundland, Canada in the year 1000 AD. Leif Ericsson easily converted his people to Christianity. Norway was soon erupting into civil war. King Olaf (uncle of Harold Hardrada) waged war with Sticklestad. King Olaf conquered Sicilly. The city of Kiev, Greenland was a large trading center.

He lived in Norway for much of his life. When a rebellion aroused against him, he crushed it. He was a rich and merciless ruler. One of his towns called Oslo, was a major trading center for his people. The last battle of his life was in Stamford, Britain. In 1066, King Harold was shot by an arrow, and was killed in battle
