All Archangels end with the "el" suffix. "El" meaning "in God" and the first half of the name meaning what each individual Angel specializes in.

The first Angel created by God, Michael is the leader of all the Archangels and is in charge of protection, courage, strength, truth and integrity.

Raphael means "God has healed" or 'the shining one who heals. Raphael is called the Watcher of the North. Also Raphel is called the prime planet of health, long life and good fortune. Although a seraph, Raphael is also noted as being a part of the cherubim. He has been given the title as the chief of virtues, this title has also been given to Michael, and they can be considered heads of the guardian angels. He is most famous for his appearance in the Bible when he guides Tobias in the book of Tobit and he teaches him about medicine and demon exorcising among other things. In his role as healer, Raphael is the one who eases the pain of Abraham after his circumcision, and healing Jacob's thigh after Jacob wrestles with another angel. He is also considered to be a patron of the sciences and medicine. Raphael taught Noah how to construct the ark before the flood, and taught Solomon how to bind demons into slave labor when Solomon's Temple was being built. Raphael is often depicted carrying a pilgrim's staff.

The first Angel created by God, Michael is the leader of all the Archangels and is in charge of protection, courage, strength, truth and integrity. The name, Michael, means "one who is like God." This does not literally mean he is God, but rather that he is great and powerful in his faith and devotion to God. St. Michael is the leader of the Archangels and led them in the battle against Satan. Holy Scripture refers to him as "one of the chief princes." He is also sometimes called the Prince of the Seraphim. He is honored and considered the protector of the church because he defeated Satan and evil. St. Michael has four duties. They are: to fight against Satan, to rescue the souls of the faithful from evil, to be the champion of God's people, and to call away from earth and bring men's souls to judgement.([WWW]http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/02013.htm) Michael's feast day is September 29th. He is the patron of grocers, mariners, paratroopers, policemen and sickness.
