Answer Garden is an effective way for a teacher to ask a group of students a question and get a response using technology. An Answer Garden can be embedded into a blog or website, as well as linked. I would use Answer Garden as a way of asking students short comprehension questions, or as an ice braker at the beginning of the school year.
Skype:
Skype is a network in which students and teachers can communicate with other individuals via video chat. Skype is an effective way of communicating with individuals such as book authors, which would not have the opportunity to come into the classroom. For example, when a class is finished reading a book, the class could set up a video conference with the book author, and ask questions about the author and the book. I would use Skype as a way of having a video conference with other educators, parents, students, or other individuals.
