So we don't actually have a Terms of Service. But maybe we should.
These are not official, just FYI. These are still developing. |
Here's a proposal to kick us off:
All Users
-
You are not allowed to create accounts on Wiki Spot for the primary purpose of advertising any service or product, including, but not limited to, essay writing services or résumé/curriculum vitæ writing services.
-
You may not use Wiki Spot for any activity illegal in the United States or the State of California.
-
You may not spam multiple wikis.
-
By submitting content (text, images, etc.) to Wiki Spot, you agree to:
-
allow Wiki Spot to distribute the content,
-
license your content under the license used by that wiki, unless you otherwise note a different copyright, and
-
not submit content that you do not have a license (or copyright) to redistribute, unless otherwise allowed by copyright law (i.e. fair use).
-
Each individual person is allowed to create one account. Do not share accounts, do not create multiple accounts.
This is bad. Who are we to object if a wiki decides to use something like Users/DavisWikiGnome? Who are we to say that dramatic identities should be banned? This is the kind of issue that should be left to individual wikis! —WilliamLewis
this is for the whole wikispot.org service, not just davis wiki. i can imagine that the "individual person" aspect would differ between different wikis
No just no. I don't want to even think about enforcing this, let alone stop doing it. B& users for sharing the AdobeManagement account or something? Ridiculous. We don't need this as a global rule to enforce a personal ban.
Perhaps something more along the lines of "if you let somebody else use your account and there are ramifications, don't complain"?
Wiki Creators/Administrators
-
You may not create a wiki for the primary purpose of commercial gain, except as a nonprofit/charitable organization.
-
You must abide by the Community Guidelines.
Enforcement
-
Users violating these terms of service may be given a temporary or permanent account ban, temporary or permanent IP ban, a stern talking-to, a gentle nudge in the right direction, or other disciplinary action at the sole discretion of Wiki Spot.
-
Wiki hosting on our service is provided as a charitable and educational service of Wiki Spot. Wikis in violation of this policy or our community guidelines may be deleted as a whole or in part by Wiki Spot at our sole discretion. If we feel there was no malice involved, Wiki Spot will try to ensure that you do not lose data as a result of our termination of service.
Definitions
-
"We" and "our" refer to Wiki Spot, a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation
-
"You" means you, the user of the Wiki Spot service.
-
Each "wiki" is a separate portion of the Wiki Spot service, usually indicated by a different domain name. Example: Davis Wiki (daviswiki.org), Wiki Spot hub wiki (wikispot.org) and Society for the Advancement of Recreation and Statistics - SARS Wiki (sars.wikispot.org) are all different wikis.
