The Anglo-Saxons were barbarians that changed that face of Britain forever.
380 AD
Before the enrollment into the Roman army, the Anglo-Saxons were probably just nomadic farmers and herdsmen. Their main religions were pagan (which consisted of Vikings and Norse). A new group of Druids (the old British people) gathered together into an army called the Pick barbarians. The Picks wanted full control of Kent, Britain, which was now abandoned by the Romans. The emperor of Britain was named Vortigern and he was a Christian.
Hangest and Horsa
Hangest and Horsa were two Anglo-Saxon leaders (they were also brothers). They became leaders when Vortigern was killed by nobles. The two brothers eventually managed to beat the Picks. Hangest and Horsa then wanted the entire land of Kent, Britain. The price for the land was Hangest's daughter. The Britain-Saxon peace treaty was eventually broken, and the two sides fought against each other. Horsa was killed in battle, and Hangest died of disease.

Arthur
A legend has been built around this historically-fictional character. In the late 5th Century, Arthur supposedly defeated his first enemy as a boy. His enemy's name was Anglo-Saxon general Ambozius.
North Umbria
North Umbria was a story of great heroism and sacrifice. An "evil" Anglo-Saxon king named Ethelfreth attacked a young boy named Prince Edwin at a feast. Edwin managed to escape, but his father and mother were slain and his sister was taken by Ethelfreth. Ethelfreth chased Edwin all across Britain. Somehow, Edwin managed to live until adulthood. As a last attempt to protect himself, he ran to his only friend left: King Redwald. Eventually, Ethelfreth found Edwin, and sent a letter to Redwald saying to either give up Edwin or die. The King was faced with a choice to either live and give up his friend, or fight for him. The King was going to give up Edwin, but his wife convinced him that this was a matter of honor not life. So, the next morning Redwald attacked Ethelfreth before his troops had woken up. Redwald killed Ethelfreth in a duel, but Redwald's son was killed in the battle. Edwin replace Ethelfreth as leader of the people in Britain. A fitting end for the boy who got to replace the man who killed his family.
