Since they were generally seen as a fairly useless metric and the actual stats are correct in the userinfo page (i.e., there weren't any audit or logging issues), they were a low priority bug. All that said, the totals were supposedly fixed several months back, and Jason (who had been carefully tracking his) has not noticed any problems since. Clearly they are still presenting an issue.
